ROMANCE

A token is given
Of music, a book or a flower
A memory of loving
So real and so glad
A glade with sunlight,
Dappled and cool.

A song of 'Lavender Blue"
Evokes a mood,
A memory of misty hills
And heather on the moors.
Shining light reflected
On snow wet roads.

Long skirts that swish
With lots of panache.
The fragrance of roses and violets
Old fashioned and soft.
Rain on the window
Fire in the hearth.

A shoulder to lean on
An arm around mine
Images and memories of change
And romance was being there.
